Over a hundred people participated in an international conference titled “The development of a cluster system in Belarus - potential, challenges and prospects”. The conference was organised as part of a project “Implementing cluster system in Belarus” run by Podlasie Regional Development Foundation (Podlaska Fundacja Rozwoju Regionalnego) under Polish Aid.
The event gathered representatives of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, as well as of government agencies, business, science and education communities. The conference was also attended by Marcin Wojciechowski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Belarus.
During her presentation, Tatsiana Bykava, Director of the Republican Foundation for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship, brought attention to necessary law amendments and preliminary conditions for the Belarusian clusters to grow.
Zhanna Tarasevich, Director of the Professor M.S. Kunyavsky Business Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers, presented the results of the project implementation with the outlook for its continuation.
Ludmila Istomina, a specialist at the Council for Enterprise Development,introduced an internet news service developed within the project. The service allows access to data on establishing and managing clusters.
The conference ended with a discussion panel on practical aspects of establishing clusters in Belarus with participation of both Belarusian and Polish experts: Dmitry Krupsky, Alexey Polovikov, Irina Novikova, Denis Shuleyko, Maley Borisovna, Viacheslav Dovnar and Sebastian Rynkiewicz (Metalworking Cluster).
