The newly approved by the Polish Parliament (16th of September) Development Cooperation Act will form the legal basis for development cooperation in Poland, helping to better coordinate and manage development aid internally and thereby increasing the effectiveness of Polish aid.
The restructuring of our current aid delivery system has arisen not only from our sense of solidarity with the developing world but also from our commitment to respond effectively to international challenges and commitments. The new legislation provides Poland with a robust aid delivery system, based on standards and procedures which will enable an effective and coordinated framework of actions. The new system will be based on the three following elements which will define our development engagement: democracy support, development assistance and humanitarian aid.
It is assumed the new regulations will enter into force on the 1st of January 2012.
