Podkarpackie aids development of Kakhetia Region by supporting of business environment institution in Kakhetia Region

Marshal Office of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship

The project aims at strengthening the implementation of the Kakhetia region development policy in Georgia through the support for administration authorities, institutions connected with business and enterprises in creating the region’s economic image.  The projects goal is to increase the competiveness and economic attractiveness  of Kakhetia, which will result in increasing life standard of inhabitants. In the framework of the project, the Polish-Georgian Support and Entrepreneurship Promotion Centre has been created in Telavi as a consultation, information and promotion point for entrepreneurs and potential investors. A study visit was organised for the project representatives to areas with increased economic activity in the Podkarpacie Voivodeship. In the scope of the project, Polish-Georgian Entrepreneurship will be organized in Kakhetia Region, with expert workshops for entrepreneurs on people interested in starting business activities, trade exchange and ethnic tourism. The partners of Podkarpacie Voivodeship are the State Administration of Kakhetia Region and the Kakhetia Regional Development Agency.

 

Partners Against Exclusion. Exchange of Experience Between Poznań and Kutaisi in the Field of Support for Disabled Persons

City of Poznań

The project aims at knowledge and ability exchange in the field of disabled persons support offered by local government units and non-governmental organizations.  During the project Polish expert staff gained insight into the situation of disabled persons in Kutaisi and in Georgia. In exchange, Georgian trainees will learn about the institutions helping the disabled in Poznań. The aim is to identify solutions possible to be implemented in Kutaisi. Eight non-governmental organizations, two city councils and a large group of volunteers helping the trainees during their monthly stay in Poznań are directly engaged in the project.

 

"To be a cooperative member"- innovative agricultural production in the Shavshvebi Region

Żywiec Development Foundation

The aim of the project is to innovate the agricultural production in the in the Shavshvebi Region in Georgia in the integration of agriculture management processes and the whole production process on a farm, including the sales of produced goods and services. One of the project effects was the creation of a local Agricultural Cooperative.  In the scope of the projects two rooms were transformed into a course room and the cooperative office. Agricultural equipment to support the cooperative’s  statutory activities and increase the production potential of members will be purchased. By acting together, the cooperative members have a chance to increase their competitiveness on the market, their investment potential and production efficiency due to a better usage of land, machines and other production factors. Courses, workshops and individual consultations  were conducted during the study visit to Poland in Podkarpacie region farms. The project is carried out in cooperation with the local authorities in Gori.

 

Working together II- development of potential and cooperation on disaster risk reduction and prevention in Guria and Samtskhe - Javakheti municipalities

Polish Center for International Aid

The aim of the project is to increase the level of crisis management efficiency of local governments in the Samcche-Dżawachetii and Guria regions in Georgia, to strengthen the competences and coordination level of rescue services in those regions and to increase the consciousness of youth and children about the reasons and consequences of crises and life saving. The project actions include trainings, the purchase of rescue equipment for fire brigades, emergency services and new crisis management structures in the above mentioned regions. Trainings in Poland and Georgia by Polish specialists in fire fighting,  life saving and crisis management are planned. A group of volunteers from towns with crisis risk will be trained, and a broad education action conducted in schools and kindergartens.  Finally, a crisis situation simulation will be presented to test the newly acquired knowledge. The project is a continuation of actions started in 2010.

 

Horse tourism development and local partnership building near Borjomi National Park in Georgia

The aim of this project is the increase in the horse tourism service level in rural areas near the Borjomi National Park – Karagula. In the scope of the project, the participants will receive saddles and other needed equipment which fulfills European safety standards. A series of business trainings, rules or organizing horse tourism events, horse breeding and usage and conservation of horse riding equipment will be organized. Half of the project participants have already taken part in a study trip to Lutowisko in Poland, where they have learned about the experiences of two agro touristic farms specialized in horse tourism and visited the Lutowisko Commune Office and a breeding centre of Huculian horses in the Bieszczady National Park. During the project, the first Georgian association of breeders was created, which will set horse tourism standards. One of the project effects is the appearance of 12 well prepared and equipped horse tourism spots in the Borjomi region. Support mechanisms and cooperation between horse breeders and the local government in Borjomi as well as between the local government in Borjomi and the Lutowisko Commune will be established as part of the project.

 

Support of the local authorities in Georgia in extending the children's access to preschool education

Social – Educational Association „Educator”

The aim of this project is the implementation by two local communes in two regions of Georgia – Samegrelo and Kakheti, of a new, alternative model of preschool education, that would provide equal opportunities for all children. In the scope of the project, in the towns belonging to the communes, 14 alternative preschooling groups were set up in renovated rooms. Educational classes for 15-20 persons groups of children aged 3-6 are held in the newly built centres. 252 children were granted access to early education. The teacher, all didactic materials and toys are covered by the project financing. Psychological diagnosis and medical checkups were carried out in all centres. In addition, methodical trainings were held for 40 kindergarten teachers and seminars for local government members and kindergarten directors were organized with the cooperation of the Georgian Ministry of Education and Science  about work quality and kindergarten management. Civitas Georgica from Tbilisi and the Centre for Teacher Advancement in Łomża are partners of the project.

 

Easier access to education, information and work - modern offer of the Georgian libraries

The Local Activity Support Centre - CAL Association

The project activities respond to the difficult situation of libraries in two regions in western Georgia – Guria and Imereti. The main aim is to modernize the functioning of the underfinanced and underequipped  libraries in the region, through the implementation of an ICT system and increasing the competences of librarians in the area of activating the inhabitants through the work of the library. Broadening the modernised library offer by actions directed at socially disadvantaged groups, especially youth, children and adults from agricultural areas, will help to better respond to educational needs of the inhabitants. The project is carried out in cooperation with the Information Society Development Foundation and State Scientific Library of Kutaisi in Georgia, it is a continuation of project activities about the Imereti region initiated by the ISDF in 2010.

Foundation of Father Orione – „Do Good”

This project answers the need of the recently opened centre for disabled persons in the Kakhetia region. 16 therapists from the centre will be trained within the scope of the project. In addition, occupational therapy workshops, a music therapy room and hortitherapy (garden therapy) facilities will be set up. During a traineeship in Poland, selected project participants will have the possibility to learn about fundraising methods for similar projects and methods of work with disabled persons.

 

Specialist support for the system of substitute care in Georgia

Our Home Association

The aim of the project is to build a comprehensive support system for children deprived of contact with parents and thus endangered by social marginalization. Carrying out recruitment, theme and specialized trainings and the employment of 30 caretakers in the new children home will serve the strengthening of the social aid system. 225 consultations and cyclical seminars for respite care specialists, psychologists, consultants, social care and care home managers and the partner organization Children of Georgia are foreseen. New, standardized and high quality work standards will be carried out and competent specialists trained, which will lead to a shorter stay in the children homes and improve the process of family reintegration. Support will be granted to 80 children’s home inhabitants to become independent. The project is a continuation of previous aid programs and a complimentary part of actions by the Georgian government to reform the child and family support system.

 

Together for better future

Local Economic Professionals Association

The main aim of this project is the creation and development of local nongovernmental organisations representing the interests of the inhabitants of several housing estates in the Georgian town Rustavi and the improvement of their institutional potential in cooperation with the town authorities. In three estates the assessment of local population’s needs will be carried out in order to specify service programs for the inhabitants and to implement specific local initiatives. The project emphasises the importance of including young inhabitants of Rustavi into the activities. The project aims at the continuation of the present cooperation of the Rustavi local government with Gdynia with the support of two nongovernmental organisations: Association of Communal Economic Development and the Georgian National Association of Local Authorities. Gdynia’s experience in the revitalisation of Chylonia, cooperation with nongovernmental organisations and activation of young inhabitants will be the basis of solutions recommended by the Polish project partners.

 

Rehabilitation and reintegration of socially disadvantaged groups

Caritas Poland

The project strengthens the support for street children in Georgia, who grow up in poverty and lose chances for a normal life. The project includes additional organisational support  and necessary adaptation renovations, as well as delivering equipment to the centres involved.

 

Independence IV. Develop a system of typhlorehabilitation, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia

Ari Ari Foundation

Continuation of a project dedicated to the support of visually impaired persons in Georgia and Armenia. In the scope of this project, another group of blind persons will be trained in everyday activities and communication. Spatial orientation and typhlorehabilitation instructors in kyno-and hypotherapy will be trained. In addition, typhlodidactic materials and textbooks for blind persons will be prepared and rehabilitation equipment (including white canes) and maps of Georgia will be purchased. At the same time, the author of the project will continue marking for blind and visually impaired in specified locations in Georgia and Yerevan.
