On 21-25 March 2011, a pilot mission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited Tunis. The purpose of the mission was to assess the possibility of broadening development co-operation with Tunisia. The members of the mission - MFA diplomats, representatives of the Abroad Group and the Community of Democracies - held over 20 meetings with several dozen representatives of NGOs dealing with political transformation, the Bar Council, political parties and the heads of the newly created Ministry of Regional Development. Bearing in mind the coordination of future actions, discussions were also held with EU Delegation experts, employees of international organizations and aid bodies, and diplomats from third countries providing development aid in Tunisia. The gathered information will serve as the basis for the decision regarding the level and nature of Polish aid in the region.
