Medical and dental help for Holy Spirit Clinic in Maggotty in Jamaica - continuation
The project was implemented between 1 July and 31 December 2013 in Maggotty (Jamaica) and counted with participation of three volunteers who stayed there from 17 September to 31 December. The coordinator of the project was the Foundation of Humanitarian Aid "Redemptoris Missio", and the local partner was the Holy Spirit Clinic. It was a continuation of projects carried out by the Foundation in the previous years (2011-2012) as part of Polish Aid.
The project aimed at providing health and dental care to the beneficiaries – residents of Maggotty and surrounding villages.
During the project, the volunteers provided health care to 60 patients daily, and over the course of the project they attended a total of 3,946 people. They also attended bedridden patients during home visits, attending a total of 76 people.
Volunteers organised 4 trainings about diabetes, and 3 lectures about sexually transmitted diseases, that gathered a total of 245 people. They also carried out 2 lectures about dental hygiene for 135 people). The volunteers offered dental care to 10 people daily, and attended 863 patients in total. They also maintained medical documentation for the patients of the clinic.
As part of the global education initiative, the Foundation published the Informational Bulletin “Raport” that included volunteers’ accounts of the project. 5,000 copies of the bulletin were published, and they were sent to the friends of the Foundation, and distributed during lectures.
