Education as the key to development and self-reliance

Zambia is a country where almost half of the population constitutes of children and youths. High birth rate and high rate of sick with HIV/AIDS is a reason for a big number of orphans, for whom the streets of big cities became home. Low education level hinders intellectual development of children and youths, prevents them from developing their talents and interests.

The opportunity for improvement of the difficult educational situation is increasing occupational competences of teachers and conducting educational activities as a part of non-formal education, that will allow for supplementation of children’s and youths’ educational deficiencies and prevent them from spending their free time on the street where they are exposed to drugs, violence, sexual abuse.

The project is a result of activities carried out as part of voluntary projects executed from MFA funds in the years 2013 and 2014.
