Courses on social economy in Lviv

The Institute of Urban Development in Krakow in collaboration with the Institute of the City of Lviv have organised the Social Economy School, now already into its third edition, for representatives of Ukraine’s non-governmental organisations, local governments, and entrepreneurs. Classes were run by practitioners with success stories in realising their business ideas. The week-long training brought together 15 participants who learnt how to combine business activity with the pursuit of social goals, prepare a business plan, build a marketing strategy, and how to secure funding. They came from various parts of Ukraine, among others from Uzhhorod, Rivne, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Izmail, and Lviv.

The Social Economy School is a part of the project “From incubation to acceleration — infrastructure development and implementation of new tools to support innovative business ventures using the Youth Entrepreneurship Incubator (YEI) in Lviv” financed under Polish development assistance provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Planned for 2017-2019, the project builds on experience and deliverables from the Institute of Urban Development’s earlier projects in Lviv. Among other things, they involved the creation of the Youth Entrepreneurship Incubator. The current project is set to expand it into a Lviv Business Support Forum bringing together local and oblast authorities, businesspeople and business organisations; establish a projects laboratory; and provide a number of training and support measures for business starters.
