Building a road to Jaghori DC
Between 18 December 2009 and 30 September 2010 Polish Provincial Reconstruction Team Ghazni (Ministry of National Defence) in cooperation with the Subgovernor of Jaghori District carried out a project which consisted of constructing a 425 m. long and 7 m. wide section of a road with stone ruble surface. In addition, on the shoulders of the road the gutters were constructed to drain rainwater. The total width of the paved surface (roadway with shoulders) was 9 m.
The aim of the project was to improve the road infrastructure in Afghanistan. The development of road infrastructure is expected to boost the country's economy, which corresponds with the first Millenium Development Goal aiming at eliminating extream poverty.
The road is maintained by the local authorities of the Jaghori District. As a permanent structure it requires no special maintenance over the next few years.
