World Water Day, celebrated annually on 22 March, was established by the United Nations General Assembly with the 22 December 1992 resolution. The main theme of this year’s World Water Day is “Water and sustainable development”. The idea of the celebration is to make international society aware of the problem of lack of access to drinking water (currently more than 700 million people do not have access to clean water) as well as to draw people’s attention to the issue of sustainable management of water resources.
According to “Multiannual Development Cooperation Programme 2012-2015” Ministry of Foreign Affairs allocates assets to implement projects in the field of water and sanitary management and managing the water resources in Central Asia countries, Palestine and in East Africa.
