Active Georgia. Women's Local Government Academy

The selection of women as direct beneficiaries of the project was made in order to properly exploit their potential which may stimulate the development of local communities and build civil society in Georgia. Women's Local Government Academy was addressed to active women of the Tbilisi and Kutaisi regions who were provided with a series of training courses, debates and workshops dedicated to the principles of functioning of local government in a democratic country, the role of women in local development and their path to success. The aim of the training was to provide knowledge on effective action and exert influence on the development of the regions. The project was also meant to stimulate co-operation with the media, promote protection against manipulation and counteract the negative stereotypes. The project was implemented in partnership with the Georgian partners such as the International Union Ertoba of Tbilisi and the Local Democracy Agency of Kutaisi.
