Support to the kindergarten in Modjo 2016

The Catholic Mission in Modjo of the Consolata Missionary Fathers runs a kindergarten attended by approximately 200 children (aged 3-6). Thirty of these children come from broken homes and are provided with additional food by the kindergarten.

Ethiopian parents cannot afford to buy books, therefore the kindergarten lends the books to children and, after they are returned, lends them to the next generation of students. Unfortunately, due to the fact that most students live in mud houses, the books often get damaged.

Last year, the kindergarten was the beneficiary of a project which provided for purchasing, among others, some text books, educational aids or office supplies, nonetheless certain materials are still in demand. Moreover, some of the kindergarten buildings were renovated in the previous years at the expense of the Mission, furniture and a copier were purchased and doors were repaired. At present, it is necessary to repair the cracked walls, the pavements on the kindergarten premises and the restrooms for children, as they are in a poor condition.

To this end, the purchase of text books for pupils, among others, for teaching mathematics, the English language, the Amharic language and science is planned (a total of approximately 200 text books).
