Support of the rural areas sustainable development in Georgia
The project was implemented between 1 June and 30 October 2013 in the following towns in Georgia: Samtskhe – Javakheti (Meschetia), Kachetia, Racha – Lechkhumi, Imeretia. In the project participated one volunteer, who stayed there from 8 July to 8 October 2013. The coordinator of the project was the Angelus Silesius House, and the local partner was ELKANA - Biological Farming Association. The project was implemented in cooperation with the Eco-Development Foundation from Wroclaw.
The aim of the project was to support functioning of the Rural Tourism Network launched by ELKANA, and several activities aiming at providing higher level of independence of the Network, improving the offered services, extending the offer for tourists and facilitating the contact with customers.
As a result, 39 participants of the individual consultations extended their knowledge during the inspections of the agritourist farms, and 20 participants of a study visit learned about the cooperation between contractors, local government and NGOs. The quality of agritourist services offered in 20 houses was improved, and 3 local NGOs improved their functioning.
A new version of the website with extended database and online reservation system was launched. The volunteer prepared four descriptions of optional tourist excursions and practical tips for the guidebook of the region. Moreover, she created a database of the tour operators working in the Polish, German and Russian markets. The new project coordinator was trained and gained new skills about the project work and functioning of NGOs.
