KwaZulu-Natal province is a mountainous area in the east of the country. The province is characterised by an enormous unemployment rate and a high level of AIDS mortality. In co-operation with the missionaries' Centocow Development Programme, integration and education film workshops for young people were carried out. A camera, equipment and materials required for editing and playing movies were purchased. Several people participated in professional workshops on operating and film production and hundreds of people took part in the recordings as extras. The main beneficiaries of the project were orphans whose parents had died of AIDS. The organisers intend to continue the initiative using the purchased equipment. |
