EuropeAid projects to Belarusian civil society

Following the international donors conference 'Solidarity with Belarus' European Commission has launched two local call for proposals to support Belarusian civil society.

First of the calls has been launched on June. Its goal is to support NGOs in the field of Human Rights. Activities financed under this call will promote the freedoms of assembly and expression, as well as the monitoring of election process, non-discrimination and the fight against corruption. The total budget available is 0.95 m. EUR. The deadline for submission of concepts is 5 September 2011.

The second call for proposals is to strengthen the capacity of non-state actors in implementing sustainable development strategies, including their political, economic, social and environmental aspects. In this call the strengthening of capacity of non-state actors to promote a Belarusian national and cultural identity as well as to promote changes in government policy towards non-state actors will be supported. The total budget available is 2.4 m. EUR. The deadline is 1 September 2011.

The European Commission plans to announce more calls for proposals concerning Belarusian civil society.
