Through development activities, we are trying to open the eyes and hearts of the Polish society to problems facing countries that are less developed. We want to provoke critical reflection on the situation of developing countries and the role of Poland as a much more developed country in supporting their development. Development co-operation is based on the sense of everybody’s personal responsibility for the development of the poorest countries. Its success depends on the Polish society’s active involvement in activities supporting international development and democratization. The year 2006 saw the launch of the second edition of a grant competition for development education projects, within the framework of which subsidies are provided for Polish NGOs’ educational projects addressed to selected groups of the Polish society. Support will be also received by local community initiatives, teachers interested in improving their teaching qualifications in the area of international development, and academic institutions introducing the issues of development co-operation in their curricula. |
