A little man in the big world. A school guide to global and developmental education
The project implemented from the 1st of May until the 13th of December 2012 in Gdansk, was addressed to the residents of the Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian voivodeships. The general purpose of the project was the civic education and raising awareness of several dimensions of the interdependences in the contemporary world, and the individual’s role and impact on those processes. In order to achieve those aims, the project’s activities were focused on raising knowledge and awareness of the teachers, through trainings. Thanks to the activation of teachers, the cooperation with the local governments and between schools was strengthened, what in future will result in increasing the knowledge of the topics of global education in Polish society.
The direct beneficiaries of the project were teachers from rural areas and smaller towns. Through them the knowledge of the global education issues will be transmitted to the students of schools that participated in the project. As part of the project, 52 teachers from 3 voivodeships were trained. The participants carried out 52 local initiatives. Substantive and methodological materials were developed for the participants of the training, and 500 copies of the manual “Little man in the big world. School guide to the global and developmental education” were published. The manual is also available (in Polish) in an electronic version on the project’s website.
